What Do You Prefer....?

And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil.  John 3:19

What a strange thing to be so true.  God the Father sent the Son into the world to be Light for us all.  He is the Light that dispels all darkness.  But, “people preferred darkness to light.” Why is that? It seems that 90% of what is reported in the news media is a sensationalistic presentation of darkness.  We hear of one murder after another or one scandal after another.  Why does the media focus upon this so much?  Because it’s what sells. Why does it sell?  Because we too often are drawn to darkness more than we are to light. 

Certainly so many are quite disinterested in the darkness of the world and the world.  But the fact that the darkness of evil is so front offer us a certain warning about our fallen human nature.  We tend to be drawn into mud and too often are all too happy there. This is a time to examine what it is you are drawn to.  Do you let yourself be drawn into the Light? Are you drawn to the many ways that God is present and active in the world all around you?  Hopefully you are.  But there is most likely some degree of pull toward disorder, sin and darkness. It’s good to be aware of this, to identify it as part of our fallen human tendency, and to seek to shed all interest in the chaos and evil all around us. 

As a follower of Christ, we are called to keep our eyes on Him and on Him alone.  We are called to penetrate the darkness with our faith and to let our whole being be attracted to and drawn toward Christ Jesus. Reflect, today, upon that which you are drawn toward the most.  Commit yourself to the Light this Easter Season.  Move your eyes from the temptation to become drawn in and fascinated by the evil around us, to the joyful vision of our Resurrected Lord alive and at work all around us.  Let this Light guide your daily life.

    I chose Light: it is peaceful. When you choose darkness, you need an extra luggage to walk through - a torchlight, same as sin. But when you choose light, it therefore means that you're light yourself, and as the light, you shine before all men, thereby laying a legacy of purity for others to follow.

On a particular Sunday morning, sometime early this year. I do not intend to insight violence, hatred, prejudice among countless numerous mundane feelings with this piece, but it's always wise to" call a spade a spade and not a garden fork" Racism is rooted in the very DNA of (I beg to withhold my words) it is prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Is the Eucharist the source of our Strength?

At every public worship of the Roman Catholic Church, there is a principal culmination. This culmination is also known as the celebration of the sacrament of the Eucharist. The word isn’t of English, thus; is a word with diverse dimensions, all going back to the man’s central need of giving thanks to God. It is one of the often used words in Catholicism. Its meaning is deep and more profound and only one with profound intimacy with God can fully comprehend its richness.  To properly understand the word is necessary to consider the word in itself. My post on Will Racism Ever Stop, brought lotsof controversial comments especially on facebook. I was asked to stop, take it down and stop writing that. How I laughed. Racism is just a tip of the many difficulties we face as a people. Did you know that the population of America is a little above 328.2 million. In this census Blacks in America make a total of 42% of the population and yet over 13% are in prisosn. How we treat a person during the darkest point of their life's is the benchmark of humanity. Putting individuals convicted of crimes, especially violent crimes, in prison is thought to make the rest of us safer. But how much safety does all this imprisonment actually buy us? The answer is very little, especially in the long-term. There are good reasons to think prisons might prevent crime.
